Spear, 90, Berlin, formerly of Salisbury, died Dec. 8, 2007, at Somerset Hospital. Born Feb. 15, 1917, in Meyersdale, a daughter of Walter E. and Emma (Kretchman) Glotfelty. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Charles, Jan. 20, 1995; brothers, Mack E., Clark E., Lee R. and Walter J. Glotfelty; sister-in-law, Beulah Glotfelty. Survived by a sister, Hazel I. Critchfield, Meyersdale; brother, Robert R. Glotfelty and wife, Dolly, Berlin; sisters-in-law, Doris Jean Glotfelty, Berlin and Helen E. Glotfelty, Oregon. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many relatives in the Spear family. A 1935 graduate of Meyersdale High School and a 1938 graduate of York Beauty School. She and her husband were co-owners of the Salisbury Hotel from 1950 to 1973. They also owned and operated beauty shops in Salisbury and Meyersdale for 50 years. A member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Salisbury and the Meyersdale ALA Unit 112. She was know as the "Buck-Eye and Cookie Lady" due to her baking skills. Family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Wanda Lester officiating.
