Speicher, Grantsville, died at her home at Accident about 5:20 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, December 17. While she had suffered from a heart ailment for many years, she was apparently as well as usual when her son, Hobart, visited her earlier in the afternoon, but died suddenly while seated in her chair. Mrs. Speicher was born in Summit Township, Somerset County, Pa., April 10, 1875, and was aged 65 years, 8 months and 7 days. She was a daughter of Joel A. and Catherine Fike Gnagey and spent her early life in the Meyersdale community. Since her marriage to Mr. Speicher, many years ago, she had made her home at Accident, Garrett County, Md., where she made many friends. She had been a member of the Church of the Brethren since early childhood. Surviving are five sons, Hobart G., Grantsville; Dr. W. Glenn Speicher, Westminster, Md.; J. Walter Speicher, Uniontown, Md.; Dwight G. and Earl C. Speicher, Accident; one brother, William F. Gnagey, Keyser's Ridge; six sisters, Mrs. Ellen Leichty, Mrs. Ida Cable and Mrs. Eliza Sweitzer, Pasadena, Cal.; Mrs. Della Minnick, Pomona, Cal.; Mrs. Grace Warner, Lowell, Mich., and Mrs. Henry Speicher, Accident, Md., and eight grandchildren. Private funeral services were held at her late home, at 10 o'clock Friday morning, Dec. 20, with Rev. H. Q. Rhodes, pastor of the Church of the Brethren of Brotherton, Pa., officiating. The five sons and one brother of the deceased served as pallbearers, and carried the body to its final resting place in the Church of the Brethren Cemetery, near Accident. Flower-bearers, all grandchildren, were Marjory and Audrey Speicher, Bobby, Gene and Allen Speicher. All of the children and their families were here to attend the services. Others who came from a distance to attend the rites were Mr. and Mrs. William Chefchire, Keyser, W.Va.; Mrs. Robert Bancord, Oakland; J. Mahlon Speicher and family and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Whitsell, Morgantown, W.Va.; Mr. and Mrs. Cedric Sterling, Annapolis, Md.; Mrs. Ida Englar, Uniontown, Md.; Mr. and Mrs. Randall Spoerline, New Windsor, Md.; Arthur Speicher, Hagerstown, and Mr. and Mrs. William Speicher, Somerset, Pa.
