All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ JAMES SPEICHER Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Jan. 22, in the Lutheran Church at Bittinger for James Speicher who died Jan. 20, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George Stark. Mr. Speicher was a lifelong resident of Garrett County where he was well known. He was born near Bittinger, Feb. 16, 1869, a son of Isaac and Elizabeth Myers Speicher. He was united in marriage with Lucinda Harmon in 1886 and they were able to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary before Mrs. Speicher passed away in Sept. of 1936. To this union five children were born, all of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Lester Hetrick, Fairmont, W.Va.; Adam Speicher, Marsteller, Pa.; Mrs. George Stark, Bittinger, Md.; Mrs. Roy Hetrick, Salisbury, Pa., and Mrs. William Weyrick, Columbus, Ohio. Twenty-one grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren also survive. He was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church since early boyhood. Rev. Bowersox of Salisbury, Pa., conducted the funeral services. The pallbearers were O. C. Buckle, Ed Buckle, Asa Orendorf, Ed Brenneman, Herbert Buckle and Toni Hays. Interment was made in the Bittinger cemetery, with William Winterberg, in charge.
