ROBERT B. SPENCE

  Robert B. Spence died at his apartment residence in the D'Amico building, 313 
Main St., Meyersdale, on Tuesday, March 2, at the age of 85 years, eight months 
and nine days, following an illness of two weeks duration.  He was born in 
Scotland, January 23, 1862, a son of James and Agnes (Brand) Spence, and was the 
last one of that family to pass away.  He came to this country at the age of 23.
  He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Janet (Martz) Spence, and six daughters: Mrs. 
Janet McFarland, Mrs. Mary C. Vogel, Mrs. Van Horn Hershiser, all of Cumberland, 
Miss Agnes Spence, Somerset, Mrs. Belle Getty and Mrs. Harry Reiber, Meyersdale.  
Eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.
  Funeral services will be conducted at the Spence home at 2:30, Friday 
afternoon by Rev. Floyd Gotjen, pastor of the Methodist Church.  Interment will 
be made in Union Cemetery, under the direction of W. C. Price & Son.
