She was educated in the Philadelphia schools and was admitted to the Girls Normal School of that city as an honor student, having the highest average of over 400 contestants. Upon completion of the four years normal course, she taught school in Philadelphia for eight years. During this time she was also an active worker in the Bethesda Methodist Church. She resigned her position as teacher to serve in the capacity of a minister's wife, by becoming the bride of Rev. Henry Sperbeck, a young ordained Presbyterian minister. Although Mrs. Sperbeck was an active worker in the church, her greatest interest and joy was always in her home and family. She was a fine Christian mother and was always well liked for her kindly disposition. For some years Mrs. Sperbeck was in failing health, and unable to attend public gatherings, but those who visited her in her home always enjoyed her friendly manner and brave spirit. Last September Mrs. Sperbeck was stricken seriously and removed to the Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, where she underwent a serious operation. After remaining in the hospital for two months she was returned to her home in Meyersdale, where until her passing, she was tenderly cared for by her son and daughter, who were always deeply devoted to their parents. During her last week several nurses also ministered to her needs at various times. Mrs. Sperbeck is survived by one son, Warren, and one daughter, Miriam. Her husband passed away in Meyersdale, less than two years ago. One sister, Mrs. Emma Stetser, also preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at the Konhaus Funeral Home, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Nelson Brown, assisted by Rev. S. C. Keiser. In keeping with Mrs. Sperbeck's request there was no display of flowers. One lovely wreath lay at her feet - a gift from her son and daughter. Burial was in the family lot in the Reformed Church Cemetery, Meyersdale, where Mrs. Sperbeck was laid to rest beside her husband.
