Born Jan. 30, 1903 in Philadelphia, a son of the late Rev. Henry C. and Anna (Null) Sperbeck. Also preceded in death by sister, Miriam in 1981. In his youth he became affiliated with the Monoghan Presbyterian Church, Dillsburg, of which his father was the pastor. He was a corporal in the Sons of Union Veteran Reserve. He helped to bury the last Civil War veterans in this area. He was the last surviving member of his family and the last survivor of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. He lived longer than any other Sperbeck going back to the Middle Ages. He was a member of Smithsonian Associates; National Rifle Assn.; World Wildlife Fund; Union of Concerned Scientists, Heritage Foundation; Republican National Comm., and the Claremont Institute. Friends will be received from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Leckemby Funeral Home. At his request, there will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Reformed Cemetery.
