Sperry, and sister of Mrs. Robert H. Johnston of Salisbury, died at her home in South Pasadena, California, May 22nd. She was a native of Salisbury, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Smith and sister of Mrs. Victoria Baumgardner and Stewart, Edward, Willis, and Ellet Smith, all now deceased. Mrs. Johnston, above mentioned, the youngest of the William Smith family, is now the only survivor. Mrs. Sperry is survived by her husband, one son, Raymond E. Sperry, prominent realtor of San Marino, Cal., and one daughter, Mrs. A. E. Clark, of San Marino; also by three grandchildren - Don Sperry, Mrs. Fred Daniels and Arthur E. Clark, all living in Southern California. Before locating in California many years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Sperry lived in Wilmerding, Pa., where he was manager of the Western Union Telegraph Co.'s office and she was office manager of the Postal Telegraph Co. Mrs. Sperry was a very lovable, kind and accomplished lady, highly esteemed by all who knew her. She was a faithful member of the First Methodist Church of Pasadena. Rev. Dr. B. Dudley Sudden officiated at her funeral on Wednesday, May 24th. Her body was laid to rest in Mountainview mausoleum. Meyersdale Republican, June 1, 1944
