Born July 20, 1934, in Grantsville, Md., he was a son of the late Gurney and Dessie (Pearce) Spiker, also preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and James. Survived by wife of 40 years, Dixie Lee (Thomas) Spiker and these children: Douglas, married to the former Brenda Peterson; Michael, married to the former Teresa Carolus; Daniel, Mark, Theresa Johnson and friend, William Sheehan, all of Somerset; Carolyn, married to Donald Romesburg, Rockwood; 8 grandchildren, one brother, Hubert Spiker, Grantsville; 2 sisters, Rosella Hendrickson, Cumberland, Md. and Shirley Liptak, Mentor on the Lake, Ohio. Served the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict and lifetime member of Somerset V.F.W. Retired truck driver. Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Friday at Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, Md. where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Ross Glotfelty officiating.
