SPIKER Nora Ellen Spiker, 86, of Grantsville, Md., died Jan. 4, 1996, at the St. Vincent de Paul Nursing Home in Frostburg, Md. Spiker was born July 13, 1909, in Grantsville. She was the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Kelly) Spiker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Spiker, on Nov. 26, 1977. She is survived by four sons: Marshall Spiker of LaVale, Md.; Archie Spiker and Jerry Spiker, both of Frostburg; and Ronald Spiker of Riverdale, Md.; six daughters: Geri Heffern and Dorothy Thompson, both of Lexington, Ky.; Wilda Healy of Breezewood; Eleanor Beiler and Janet Spiker, both of Grantsville; and Jean Austin of Burtonsville, Md.; 25 grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Spiker was a homemaker and a member of the Oak Grove Mennonite Church. Friends were received Jan. 6 at the Newman Funeral Home in Grantsville. A service was conducted the same day at the funeral home, with Rev. Lee Williams officiating. Interment, Oak Grove Cemetery. New Republic, January 11, 1996 [S2640]
