Spory, 78, Main St., Davidsville, died April 16, 1981, at Scenery Hill Manor, Indiana. Born Feb. 19, 1903, in Conemaugh Township, son of James O. and Katherine (Wood) Spory. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Thelma G. Gangawere, who died Aug. 24, 1977; a daughter, Doris; and son, Dale. Also two sisters and two brothers. Survived by these children: Joann Nelle, wife of John F. Scott, Germantown, Md.; James Doren, married to Shirley Miller, Poolesville, Md.; David A., married to Dorothy Leach, Indiana, RD 3; and six grandchildren. Brother of Charles, Hollsopple RD 1; Mrs. Lizzie Miller, Johnstown RD 4; Mrs. Sadie Blough, Davidsville. Member of St. David's Lutheran Church, Davidsville. He was a teacher and retired school administrator for 46 years at Conemaugh Township Area School. Was a wrestling coach and official referee, and also athletic trainer. Attended California Normal School, Indiania [sic] Normal School, and University of Pittsburgh, where he received his Masters Degree in education. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and until 10:30 a.m. Saturday at George E. Mason Funeral Home, Davidsville, when remains will be removed to St. David's Lutheran Church for funeral services at 11 a.m., the Rev. Luther A. Gotwald Jr. Interment, St. James Cemetery.
