He was aged 74 years, 11 months and 2 days. He was born in Connellsville and when he was grown to manhood came to Meyersdale, where he lived until several months ago when the infirmities of age made it necessary for him to be removed to the county home. He was married to Anna Knupp of Somerset, and to them a daughter was born. Both wife and daughter preceded him in death. He is survived by several nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at the Konhaus Funeral Home. Rev. H. K. Hilner had charge of the service. Interment was in Union Cemetery. Mr. Spriggs was an expert violinist and book lover, and during his latter years was a steady patron of the Meyersdale public library. He also was for many years an active member and official of the Meyersdale, Afro-American Methodist Episcopal Church. Meyersdale Republican, December 18, 1947
