Stairs, 73, of Acme RD 1, died Jan. 19, 1978 in Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg. He was born Sept. 10, 1904 in Acme, the son of the late Adam and Etta (Barron) Stairs. He is survived by his widow, Ann (Hays) Stairs; one son, Jeff of Acme; two grandchildren: one brother, Russell of Youngwood; and two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Hamm of Mt. Pleasant and Mrs. Ernest (Helen) Imel of Normalville. He was a retired farmer; a member of the Acme United Methodist Church; charter member of the Chestnut Ridge Lions Club; director of the Somerset Maple Producers; director Somerset County Sheep and Wool Growers; and also a director of the Westmoreland County Sheep and Wool Growers. Friends will be received at the L. Boyd Snyder Funeral Home, Rt. 711 Stahlstown from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev.
