Stakem, 73, of Paradise Street, Midland, Maryland, died February 22, 1984 at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Maryland. Born in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Anton Urbas and Theresa (Liker) Urbas, former residents of Vale Summit. Her husband, Clement T. Stakem, died in 1966. She was a retired employee of the Maryland State Department of Social Services, having served as the department's first homemaker in Allegheny County. She was a member of St., Joseph's Catholic Church and the Sodality; the El Fidel Club of Cumberland; the Ladies Auxiliary of John T. Devlin Post; American Legion; the Ladies Auxiliary of the Midland Volunteer Fire Company and the Midland Homemakers Club. She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Patricia Garrison, Midland, Maryland; Mrs. Noreen Smith, Piedmont, W.Va.; Mrs. Helen Frances Topacio, Jamul, California; seven sisters: Mrs. Rose Stakem, Midland; Mrs., Mary McKenzie, Frostburg, Maryland; Mrs. Nettie Kelly, Lonaconing, Maryland; Mrs. Helen Hardesty, Springs; Mrs. Margaret Arnold, Vale Summit, Maryland; Mrs. Dorothy Warnick, New Germany; Mrs. Libby McKinley, Hagerstown, Maryland; four brothers: Anton Urbas, Vale Summit; Frank Urbas, Eckhart, Maryland; John Urbas, Meyersdale RD 3; William Urbas, Midland; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
