Born Dec. 27, 1899 in Pittsburgh, son of John Sr. and Bridget (Gelanintis) Stankan. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Elizabeth Molinari, in 1970; brothers, Paul, James, Anthony, Joseph, John, Albert, George and William and sisters, Mary Stankan, Ann Bliznick and Alice Ruthko. Survived by brother, John Jr., married to the former Mary Wojtisek, Bedford RD; and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of the former Holy Cross Catholic Church, Jerome, and the Jerome Nest 556 Polish Falcons of American. Retired employee of the Federal Pacific Electric Co. in Newark, N.J. Army veteran of World War II, was honored for his past military service upon his 100th birthday with a certificate of recognition as an honorary degree of the V.F.W. Grand Pup Tent of the Military Order of the Cootie. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery near Jerome at a time to be announced next week.
