STANTON Almira Marie Stanton, 85, of Star Route, Grantsville, Md., died Monday, Oct. 18, 1993 at the Cumberland Nursing & Convalescent Center. Born Feb. 16, 1908 in Avilton, Md., she was the daughter of the late James Henry and Mollie (Frost) Turner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Guy S. Stanton Sr., on July 7, 1984 with whom she operated The Maples, a maple sugar production farm for 50 years. Mrs. Stanton was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Frostburg and the Mars Hill Homemakers Club. She was a graduate of Catherman's Business School. Surviving are three sons: William T. Stanton, Woodbine, Md.; Guy S. Stanton Jr., Grantsville, Md.; Thomas W. Stanton, Cumberland, Md.; one daughter, Sara R. Jarrett, Elkridge, Md.; one sister, Dollie McKenzie, Avilton, Md.; 10 grandchildren and two great granddaughters. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, Wednesday and service was conducted there on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. with Father Michael Ellis officiating.
