Stanton, 73, of 420 New York Street, Huntington, W.Va., formerly of Grantsville, Md., died May 13, 1980 at his residence. He was born in Grantsville, Md., a son of the late James U. Stanton and Mrs. Anna (Gnagey) Stanton. He was a retired employee of Western Union with 43 years service. He was a former member of St. John's Church of Christ, Grantsville; an Air Corps veteran of World War II in the European Theater of Operations with the rank of Staff Sergeant, and a member of the VFW Post in Huntington, W.Va. He is survived by his widow, Edith (Bloch) Stanton, Catonsville, and Markle Stanton, Cumberland; and one sister, Mrs. Harriet Powell, Alexandria, Va. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home. Graveside military rites were accorded in Grantsville Cemetery by members of Post 214, American Legion, Grantsville. The Republic, May 22, 1980 [S2793]
