Mrs. Stanton was a daughter of the late William and Jane (Warnick) Broadwater, pioneer settlers of Garrett County, and was the second to the last surviving member of a family of thirteen children. One brother, Gilead Broadwater, the youngest member of the family, survives. She was born on the old home farm near Fair View, Md., Jan. 15, 1844, and lived 87 years, 3 months and 15 days. Harriet Broadwater was married to Eli Stanton, February 28, 1865, and moved soon to Little Crossings, where they resided until death claimed them. Mr. Stanton conducted the Stanton grist mill till his death on June 20, 1910 - the same mill that was owned and operated for many years by his father, William Stanton, and is now owned and operated by his son, W. E. Stanton. Mrs. Stanton is survived by the following children: Mrs. H. H. Maust, Salisbury, Pa., and W. Edward Stanton and J. Urban Stanton, Grantsville. Fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Two sons, Charles Albert and Howard Milton Stanton, died some years ago. Mrs. Stanton was a faithful member of the Reformed church. She was of a retiring disposition and loved her home, where she spent the remaining years of her life since the death of her husband. She was in good health until May 4, when she was stricken with a heart attack which caused her death. Funeral services will be held at her home on Thursday morning at 10:30 o'clock, Rev. M. A. Kieffer, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be made in the family lot in Grantsville Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, May 28, 1931
