Born June 2, 1911 in Summit Township, a daughter of Harvey E. Hershberger and Ada Elizabeth (Kretchman). Preceded in death by parents; husband, Charles Edison Stanton, who died in 1950; brothers: Raymon K., William H., Milton C. and John R. Hershberger; and sister Grace Miller. Survived by sister-in-law, Mary Jane Hershberger, Meyersdale and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Somerset. She was a retired school teacher with 42 years of service teaching for Meyersdale Schools from 1931-1962 and Somerset Schools from 1962-1973. She received her BS in elementary education from California University, and her MS from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Also a member of NEA, and PSEA, and Somerset County Educators Assn. Friends were received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Services were conducted Monday, November 20, 2006 at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home Somerset with the Reverend J. Matthew Deal officiating. Interment Grantsville Cemetery.
