Stanton, 70, of Grantsville RD 2, Md., died March 23, 1979 in Martinsburg, W.Va., VA Center. Born in Grantsville, he was a son of the late Earl and Malinda (Orendorf) Stanton. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Grantsville American Legion Post 213 and was a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lucretia (Meyers) Stanton; six sons, Carl Stanton, North Canton, Ohio; William Clay Stanton, Alvin, Texas; Stanley R. Stanton, Meyersdale; David Stanton, Fayetteville, Pa.; John Stanton, Grantsville and Sam Stanton, Accident, Md.; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Hertchel, Grantsville; four brothers, Leslie Stanton, Frank Stanton, Dalton Stanton, all of Grantsville; and Glenn Stanton Frostburg, Md.; a sister, Mrs. Naomi Myers, Markleysburg; 18 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where services were conducted with Rev. James Mitchell officiating. Interment, Grantsville Cemetery. The Republic, March 29, 1979 [S2801]
