Stapleton, 79, of 5190 Walnut Lane, Everett, formerly of Roaring Spring, died Feb. 8, 2000 at Somerset Hospital. Born Aug. 14, 1920 in Roaring Spring, the daughter of Joseph and Julia (Pollard) Blattenberger. She married Ellis M. Stapleton on May 17, 1941 in Cumberland, Md. She is survived by her husband; daughter, Venetta M. Bowersox of Carlisle and two sons, Joseph M. Valkaria, Fla.; and Craig M., Somerset. She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was a member of the Somerset Church of the Brethren and a former member of The Bare Memorial Church of God, Roaring Spring. She was employed in the cafeteria in the Somerset School District for 18 years. She also served as a volunteer at the snack bar at Somerset Hospital. She was a 1938 graduate of Roaring Spring High School. She enjoyed cooking and homemaking. She was a former member of the Roaring Spring Chapter Order of Eastern Star. Friends will be received from 10 until 11 a.m., the hour of service Thursday in the J. Gary Thompson Funeral Home, Roaring Spring, Pastor David Williams officiating. Interment, Fairview Cemetery.
