Statler, 85, a resident of the Methodist Country House, 4830 Kennett Pike, Wilmington, De., died March 26, 1995, at her home of respiratory failure. She was a schoolteacher and taught in the Shade Township and Irwin school districts before moving to Wilmington. She enjoyed playing duplicate bridge and played in both the Irwin, Pa., and Wilmington, De., areas. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Carey of Wilmington; a sister, Irene Kurtz of Mogadore, Ohio, and two grandchildren. A service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Danby Memorial Chapel of the Methodist Country House, where the family will receive friends following the service. Burial at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Somerset County Memorial Park, Somerset. In memory of Freda, a contribution may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 501 Duncan Road, Wilmington, DE 19801.
