Statler, 57, Clermont, Fla., formerly of Salisbury, died March 4, 2004, at South Lake Hospital, Clermont. Born Dec. 26, 1946, in Meyersdale. A son of Viola (Vitale) Statler of Salisbury and the late H. Kenneth Statler. Survived by his wife, Sally (Fike) Statler, daughter of the late Robert and Helen (Gnagey) Fike, Clermont; a daughter Natalie Statler, Dillsburg; sister, Cheryl Hopman, widow of Gordon, Aiken, S.C.; brother, H. Kenneth Jr. and his wife Joyce (Cloke), Ballston Lake, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Susie, wife of David Lohr and brother-in-law, Randy Fike, married to Jean Wellington, both of Meyersdale; and these nieces and nephews: Jon Hopman, Montverde, Fla., Christine Hopman, Oak Hills, Va., Scott Statler, Yorktown Heights, N.Y., Julie Statler, Los Angeles, Calif., Sarah Statler, Phoenix, Ariz., Benjamin Lohr, DeAnn Hotchkiss and Robert Fike, all of Meyersdale and Michelle (Fike) Batey, Austin, Texas; three great-nephews and five great-nieces. Also aunts and uncles. Ron served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, June 1967 to April 1968, 7th Battalion, 15th Artillery, during the Tet Offensive. He was a member of the Salisbury VFW and Salisbury American Legion. Also a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Salisbury. He was an avid golfer and woodworker. Retired from the construction business, having worked for M.F. Fetterolf Coal Co. and Commonwealth Stone. He worked on both phases of the Meyersdale Flood Control as a grade foreman and engineer, and worked on other projects in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Also formerly employed by GM&W Coal Co. and Mining Services Inc. A 1964 graduate of Salisbury-Elk Lick High School. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Price Funeral Home Meyersdale where service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Tommy Holliday officiating.
