Stayrook, 75, Hollsopple RD 2, died Feb. 28, 1983, at Memorial Hospital, Johnstown. He was born Jan. 27, 1908, in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, son of Francis and Catherine (Blough) Stayrook. He was preceded in death by parents, two sons, three sisters and three brothers. He is survived by widow, former Ruth E. Miller, and these children: Miller, married to former Carol Hooper, Newton, Kan.; Esther Szala-Byers, Hollsopple RD 2; Carmon, married to former Leah Hershberger, Johnstown RD 4; Luther, East Berlin; Spencer "Sam", married to former Sylvia Siefert, Cincinnati, Ohio; Eunice, wife of Edwin Hershberger, Northfield, N.J.; Patricia, wife of John Calloway, and Maretta Civello, both of Alexandria, Va.; and David married to former Grace Thomas, Felton; also daughter-in-law, Joanna Stayrook, Blairsville RD 2; also 36 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Katie Alwine, Hollsopple RD 3; Glenn, Somerset, Francis and Richard, both of Berlin; William, Erie; Vernon; Strongsville, Ohio; Clara Peterson and Erma Ott, both of Johnstown; and Edna Cox, Linesville. He was an active member of Carpenter's Park Mennonite Church. Death breaks marriage union of 56 years. Friends were received at George E. Mason Funeral Home, Davidsville, where services were held at Carpenters Park Mennonite Church, the Rev. Marvin Kaufman, officiating. Interment, Blough Mennonite Cemetery.
