Born Nov. 16, 1913 in New York City, N.Y., he was the son of Edward and Hattie (Krauss) Steckler. Preceded in death by his wife, the former Lavinia C. Williams, who died Jan. 3, 1989. Survived by these children: Bertram Steckler Jr., married to the former Carole (Jenny) of Sebastian, Fla., Robert M., married to the former Tina (Mazon) of Gettysburg, Mrs. Elroy (Jean) Cable of Somerset, and a foster son, William J. Thompson, married to the former Eileen (Snyder) of Sipesville; 7 grandchildren, 3 foster grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Brother of Mrs. Eleanor Burell of Barryville, N.Y. Worked for 57 years as an independent steamfitter, retiring in 1975. Former member of the Steamfitters Union, and former member of the Snowmobile Association. Visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday. Elvin L. Holsopple officiating.
