Mr. Stein dropped dead from a heart attack at the top of the steps as he was re-entering home after mailing some letters across the street. Before going out the last thing he did was to write a check for the Meyersdale Republican for his wife's subscription, remarking to a member of the family, "Now, everything is taken care of, I don't owe a cent." Mr. Stein was employed as an Internal Revenue officer. He was a veteran of World War I. The American Legion Post, of which he was a member, attended his funeral in a body and conducted the last military rites at the grave. His widow is a sister of Mrs. Charles Dunne of Meyersdale. Mr. and Mrs. Stein usually spent about two weeks each summer here, visiting at the Dunne home and with other relatives of Mrs. Stein. She and her sister, Grace Tressler, who made her home with the Steins, may return to Meyersdale to live. Charles Dunne went to Chicago to attend the funeral of his brother-in-law.
