Born Nov. 23, 1937, in Somerset, a son of the late John J. and Mary Steinkirchner. Also preceded in death by a brother, Vernon. Survived by his wife, the former Sara Catherine Emert, to whom he was married 36 years. Also survived by children, Scott Steinkirchner, married to the former Chris Hambley, Somerset; Brian Steinkirchner and friend, Melissa Hoover, Somerset; and Sandy and Jerry Holiday, Somerset; grandchildren, Randy, Alex, Shana, Grant, B.J., Ethan, Michael and Katelyn. Brother of Charles Steinkirchner, Johnstown; mother-in-law, Hazel Emert, Somerset; and sister-in-law, Pat Steinkirchner, York. Attended St. Peter's Catholic Church. He was employed by Rockwood Manufacturing Co. for 48 years until his retirement in 2003. He enjoyed bowling, computers, fishing and boxing. He loved NASCAR racing and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of REACT for many years. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Barry Ritenour officiating. Interment in Edie Cemetery.
