  STERN
  
    John W. Stern, 79, Ocean Beach, Virginia, formerly of Stoystown,
  died Feb. 16, 2001, in Fredericksburg Hospital, Fredericksburg, Va. 
  Born Nov. 5, 1921, son of the late John N. and Ruth (Smith) Stern. 
  Preceded in death by parents and sister, Margaret Kimmel.  Survived
  by his wife, Vi Stern, and seven children; sisters: Lois Kimmel and
  Geraldine Kovack, both of Somerset, and brother, James and his wife
  Edythe, Bucks County.  He served in the Navy during World War II. 
  Funeral arrangements were held in Virginia.
