    Mae Alzene Stern, 79, of Quecreek died March 2, 1998 in Somerset
  Hospital.  Born May 21, 1918 in Somerset County, daughter of the late
  Harvey and Sarah (Menhorn) Shumaker.  Preceded in death by parents,
  husband, Roy Stern, two brothers Elmer and Ward Shumaker.  Survived
  by a son Harold (Shelley) of Trenton, N.J.  Sister of: Grace Arden,
  Somerset RD 2; Helen Mayer, Troy, Ohio; Carl Eugene (Trudy), La
  Porte, Ind.; Harvey Jr., Quecreek, and Robert (Barb) Shumaker, La
  Porte, Ind.  Also a special sister-in-law Isabel Shumaker, Quecreek,
  and a number of nieces and nephews.  Retired from Somerset Candy
  Co.  Member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Somerset.  Friends
  will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
  Wednesday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where service will
  be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Rev. Glenn E. Sadler officiating. 
  Interment, Weller Cemetery.
