    Richard D. Stern, 68, went to be with our Lord Oct. 21, 2007, after a lengthy illness
  in San Diego. Preceded in death by parents, Paul and Carrie Stern; three sisters, Violet,
  Twila and Martha. He is survived by wife, Elena; and two sons. Also surviving are three
  sisters, Marion, Dorcas and Anna; and brother, Robert. He was retired from the Navy.
