  Ruth M. Stern, 95, Stoystown, died Aug. 7, 1986, at home.  She was
  born May 9, 1891, in Quemahoning Township, and was a daughter of the
  late David and Ellen (Good) Smith.  Also preceded in death by
  husband, John N.; daughter, Margaret Kimmel; granddaughter, Jona Lee
  Stuckey; sons-in-law, Clair and Robert Kimmel; four sisters; and two
  brothers.  Survived by these children: Mrs. Lois Kimmel, and
  Geraldine Kovack, both of Somerset; James D., married to the former
  Edith Overbeck, Washington Crossing; John W., married to the former
  Violet Case, Coconut Creek, Fla.; granddaughter, Ina Claire Kimmel,
  Stoystown, whom she raised; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren;
  and four great-great-grandchildren.  Sister of James H. Smith,
  Friedens RD 1.  She was the oldest resident of Stoystown.  She was a
  member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Stoystown.  Family will
  receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Deaner Funeral
  Home, Stoystown, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with
  the Rev. Karyl J. Leslie officiating.  Interment, Oddfellows
  Cemetery, Stoystown.
