He was born May 2, 1899, in Black Township, a son of Harrison and Ophelia (Miller) Sterner. He is survived by four nephews: George Durst, Blaine Kimmel and Franklin Sterner, all of Rockwood; and Harold (Ike) Sterner of Somerset; by two nieces: Ms. Virginia Moyle of Rockwood; and Mrs. Sheila Veltri of Berlin. Preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers. He was a charter member of the Rockwood Volunteer Fire Company and a retired employee of the Pennsylvania Electric Company. Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the William J. Wood Funeral Home, Rockwood, where services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Rex Wasser officiating. Interment, Rockwood I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Wood Funeral Home, Rockwood, with Francis Brady supervising. Memorial services will be conducted in the funeral home Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. by members of the Rockwood Volunteer Fire Company. Daily American, July 1, 1987 [S2967]
