Stetler, 75, of Sun City Center, Fla. and formerly of Stoystown, died Dec. 18, 1996 at South Bay Hospital, Fla. Born July 30, 1921 in Johnstown. Son of the late Harry F. and Ruth (Hoffman) Stetler. Survived by his wife of 49 years the former Gloria Specht, sons Richard H. Jr. married to the former Sherrie Long of Denver, Pa., and Bradley S. married to the former Susie Miller of Richmond, Vt., grandchildren Jennica and Katelyn Stetler, Dorri Beskid, Jodi and Adam Kingsborough, and sister Mrs. Ted (Sally) Hunt, Johnstown. Graduate of Johnstown High School and Gettysburg College. Member of S.A.E. National Fraternity. W.W.II Army Veteran. Served in 4th Infantry Division attaining the rank of major. Received a Purple Heart and was involved in the landing at Utah Beach. Fought in Normandy campaign, Northern France, Ardennes and Central Europe. Former owner of H.J. Specht and Son Hardware, Stoystown. After retirement in 1993, they moved to Sun City Center, Fla. Member and former consistory president of Stoystown Charge United Church of Christ and associate member of United Community Church, Sun City Center. Charter member of Stoystown Lions Club and member of Sun City Center Lions Club. Former Forbes High School Board member, former president of boards of First National Bank of Stoystown, N.B.W.P. and First Philson Bank of Berlin. Member of Reserve Officers Club Sun City Center and 50-year member of Robert P. Hite Post 257 American Legion, Stoystown. Family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Rev. Paul E. Claycomb. Interment, Odd Fellows Cemetery, Stoystown.
