Stets, 84, Somerset Pike, Boswell RD, died March 30, 2004, at home. Born June 14, 1919, in Ralphton, son of John and Mary (Sczerba) Stec. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 50 years, former Sue (Stedina) Gontis, Oct. 31, 1998; great-granddaughter, Rebecca Gontis; sisters, Louise Wozniak and Victoria Pauba; and brother Peter. Survived by children James Gontis, married to Judith Laesch, Punta Gorda, Fla.; David "Doc" Gontis, married to Patricia (Ryniak), Somerset Pike; Barbara (Stets), married to Joseph Krajcovic, Sipesville; and Debra (Stets), married to Anthony Niemiec, Friedens; 19 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. A 1938 graduate of former Boswell High School. Army veteran of World War II. Member of All Saints Catholic Parish. Had been a partner in former D & D Beer Distributor, Boswell. Retired employee of Somerset Candy Co. and also a former meat cutter. Avid fisherman. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where vigil for the deceased will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Friday at All Saints Chapel, Acosta. The Rev. Father Justin Ratajczak, O.F.M., Conv., celebrant. Committal St. Joseph Cemetery, Ralphton, with full military graveside rites in charge of Menoher Post 155 VFW Ritual Team. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Meals On Wheels Inc., 235 W.
