  STEVANUS
  
  Charles E. Stevanus, 81, Shaft, Md., died Jan. 26, 1988, in
  Meyersdale Community Hospital.  Born March 17, 1906, in Elk Lick
  Township, son of the late Jerimiah and Gertrude (Krautworth)
  Stevanus.  Preceded in death by his wife, the former Margaret M.
  Deal; infant daughter, Carrie; a sister, Mamie Bodes; and a brother,
  Clarence.  Survived by three daughters: Mrs. Gertrude Hersch,
  Meyersdale RD 4; Miss Alice Stevanus, Shaft, Md.; Mrs. Mildred
  Harbel, Baltimore, Md.; one son, John, Tucson, Ariz.; also two
  brothers: Arthur, Cresaptown, Md., and Leroy, Baltimore, Md.; six
  grandchildren and one great-grandson.  Member of the United Methodist
  Church of Shaft.  Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
  and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Thomas Funeral Home, Salisbury,
  where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., with the
  Rev. John Taugher and the Rev. George Wehler officiating.  Interment,
  Greenville Cemetery.
