(Stoney) Stevanus, 78, Jerome, died August 2, 1980, at home. Born February 23, 1902, in Coal Run, Somerset County, son of Jerimiah and Gertrude (Witt) Stevanus. Preceded in death by father; wife, the former Esther Sheetz, who died March 5, 1953; and sister Mamie. Survived by mother, of Siemon's Lakeview Manor Estate, and these children: Audrey P., wife of Oles Cullers Jr., Wichita, Kansas; Clarence Jr., married to Alvera Fortini, Jerome; and Paul E., married to Betty Passero, Clinton, Md., eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild. Brother of Charles, Frostburg, Md.; Arthur, Cresaptown, Md.; and Leroy, Baltimore, Md. Attended Jerome Nazarene Church. Member Jenner Rod and Gun Club, Jerome Polish Falcons, Jenners Local UMWA, and Somerset County Oldtimers Baseball Association. At one time was a Somerset County baseball player. Retired from Hillman Coal and Coke Company, Jerome. Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at George E. Mason Funeral Home, Davidsville, where services will be conducted 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. John Goodworth officiating. Interment, St. Paul's Cemetery. Daily American, August 4, 1980 [S2985]
