ELSIE STEVANUS

  Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Stevanus who died February 25 at her home near 
Portage, Cambria County, were held in the Portage Lutheran Church.
  Mrs. Stevanus was born at Hyndman, Bedford County, a daughter of Jack and 
Ellen Williams.  She was married in 1904 to Benjamin Shroyer to which union 
three children were born.  In October 1927 she married George Dewey Stevanus who 
survives her with the following children: Mrs. Marie Maust, Akron, Ohio; Jesse 
J. Shroyer and wife, Mary; Mrs. Vera Dickerson and husband, Elmer, who is 
serving with the Army Air Corps., and the following grandchildren: Mrs. Tolna 
Durst and husband, Earl, who is in the Navy; Reva, La Nola and Edward Maust and 
two step-grandchildren, Arthur and Alverda Brighenty, and three great-
grandchildren, Bradley, Ronald and Harold Durst.  The following brothers and 
sisters also survive: John Williams of Markleton, Lester of Fairmont, West 
Virginia; Virgil of Glencoe, and Mrs. Arminta Chapin of Cadzic.
