Stevanus, 82, a retired farmer and lumberman, died at 3:15 p.m., August 14 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Mary Staggs, Potomac Park, Cumberland, Md., with whom he had resided two years. A native of Elk Lick Twp., Somerset County, Pa., Mr. Stevanus was a son of John and Elizabeth Yoder Stevanus. He retired about ten years ago. Mr. Stevanus was a member of the Springs Mennonite Church. His wife, Mrs. Rebecca Keefer Stevanus, died some years ago. Besides Mrs. Staggs, Mr. Stevanus is survived by three other daughters, Mrs. Naomi Tressler, Harrisonburg, Va.; Mrs. Fred Grenke, LIncoln Park, Mich.; and Miss Susan G. Stevanus, who resides with Mrs. Staggs. Also surviving are three sons, Elmer Stevanus, Portland, Ore.; Ira Stevanus, Los Angeles, Calif.; and Ralph E. Stevanus, Hyndman, Pa.; one sister, Mrs. Lydia Shrock, Farmington, Del.; seventeen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held last Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Mennonite Church in Springs, with Rev. Walter Otto and Rev. Roy Kinsinger officiating. Interment in the church cemetery.
