She was born December 19, 1852 in Elk Lick Township, a daughter of Jeremiah and Eliza Folk Hershberger. Her husband, Jonas Stevanus, died 25 years ago. The following children survive: William J. Stevanus, Prescott, Kansas; R. J. Stevanus, Berlin; Mrs. Jacob Sarver, Berlin; Alvin Stevanus, Appleton, Minnesota; Mrs. P. T. Coleman, Ingram; Mrs. Matilda Nailer, Los Angeles, California; Mrs. Carrie Kearton, Wessington Springs, South Dakota; Mrs. Bittner, mentioned above; Mrs. Orpha Knable, Cleveland, O.; and Victor of Turtle Creek. Two grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Sarah King of Salisbury. Friends were permitted to view the body at the Johnson Chapel, Berlin, until Thursday noon. The funeral was held at 2:30 p.m. at Springs Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Roy Otto in charge. Burial in the church cemetery directed by Johnson & Son, morticians.
