Born Nov. 1, 1926, in West York, Pa., daughter of the Rev. Walter D. and Grace (Slifer) Guss. Her father was former pastor of Christ Casebeer Lutheran Church, Somerset. She was formerly married to the Rev. William H. Snyder. She was graduated from West Chester (Pa.) High School and Gettysburg College, Class of 1947, and did graduate study in history and magazine design at Temple University. In 1987, Stevenson retired as assistant for editorial production of the Lutheran Partners, a magazine for those in the public ministries of the Lutheran Church in America. For many years, Stevenson was active in Lutheran Church Women of the Lutheran Church in America. She served extensively on the local and synodical levels and was president of the Central Pennsylvania Synodical Unit for five years. She was also editor for Leadership Support Publications, Central Pennsylvania Synod and was a member of the Synodical Executive Board. Stevenson also taught school for many years. Survived by her husband, the Rev. Robert F. Stevenson, Gettysburg; a son, William C. Snyder, Washington, D.C.; two daughters: Alethea J. Snyder of Somerville, N.J.; and Noel Strattan, Mount Zion, Pa.; two grandchildren; a brother, William J. Guss, North Hollywood, Calif.; and a sister, Evelyn G. Guss, New York City. A memorial service was held at Christ Lutheran Church, Gettysburg, at 2 p.m. Monday. Interment, Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg.
