    Evelyn E. (Powell) Stewart, 94, Stoughton Lake, Jennerstown, died Jan. 24, 2006, at
  Country Manor Living, Jerome. Born May 2, 1911, in Shade Township, daughter of Howard and
  Annie (Wingerd) Powell. Preceded in death by parents, husband, Robert D., May 9, 1971;
  sons, Ben H., Aug. 27, 1978, and Attorney William P. , Dec. 14, 2004; and several
  brothers. Survived by daughter, Dixie, married to Gary Johnson, Arp, Texas; daughter-
  in-law, Ruth (Walker) Stewart, Philadelphia; grand-children, Phoebe, Bradley and Stephen
  Stewart; and great-granddaughter, Kristen Stewart. A graduate of Shippensburg State
  Teacher's College. Retired elementary teacher with numerous years of service in area
  schools. Recipient of the Pennsylvania Outstanding Teacher Award. Along with husband,
  Robert, owned and operated the former Stewart's Hardware, Jennerstown, for many years.
  Member of Laurel Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jennerstown. Lifelong member of the
  auxiliary to the Jennerstown Volunteer Fire Department. Evelyn loved to read her Bible
  daily and work crossword puzzles. Visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. until
  noon Saturday at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Allegheny Street,
  Boswell. Funeral service 2 p.m. Saturday at Laurel Trinity Church. The Rev. Jacquelyn E.
  Ahern officiating. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park. Fireman's Auxiliary service
  will be held Friday evening at the funeral home. No viewing at the church. Memorials may
  be given to Laurel Trinity Church, Box 185, Jennerstown, PA 15547.
