Stewart, 70, Philadelphia, formerly of Jennerstown, passed on Dec. 14, 2004, at Hahnemann Hospital, Philadelphia. Born Nov. 4, 1934, in Hooversville. He is the son of Evelyn (Powell) Stewart, Jennerstown and the late Robert Stewart. In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a brother, Ben Howard Stewart. He is survived by his mother; wife, Ruth (Walker) Stewart, Philadelphia; children, Dr. Phoebe Stewart, married to Michael Prediger, Nashville, Tenn; W. Bradley Stewart, married to Dr. Mai Nhung Le, San Francisco, Calif.; and Stephen R. Stewart, Chicago, Ill.; sister, Dixie, married to Gary Johnson, Arp, Texas. Mr. Stewart received his B.A. from Gettysburg College and his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. He was an attorney for the Swartz, Campbell and Henry Law Firm and spent most of his career with the Defender Association of Philadelphia, First Assistant Defender. He was a veteran of the United States Marines, private first class, Camp Lejune, N.C., and assisted his father in the operation of Stewart's Hardware Store in Jennerstown before moving to Philadelphia. He enjoyed working with his hands and restored several houses in the Philadelphia area for rental properties. He was a member of Lodge 358 of the Free and Accepted Masons in Somerset. He attended the Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 12 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset. The Rev.
