Born April 20, 1896, in Clay Run, son of the late Elijah Peter and Agnes (Sloan) Steyer. In addition to parents, preceded in death by a son, John R. Steyer; sisters, Annie Klink, Isabel Steyer, Carrie Steyer, Mabel Shultz, Fannie Grace, and an infant sister; three brothers, David L. Steyer, Absalom Steyer, and Ralph V. Steyer. Survived by wife, Harrietta M. (Herman) Steyer, with whom he celebrated his 61st wedding anniversary Oct. 23; one son, Ray E. Steyer, Mill Run RD 1; two daughters, Iris Steyer and Mrs. Lewis (Francis) Collins, both of Mill Run RD 1; a foster son, Harry Frazee, at home; a number of foster children; 10 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Last surviving member of his immediate family. Resident of Clay Run all his life. Attended Mill Run Normal School. Retired dairy farmer and timberman. Also taught school in Springfield Township. Member of People's United Church of Maple Summit. Former superintendent of Maple Summit Church and taught Sunday School classes. Friends will be received in Brooks Funeral Home Inc., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home, with Rev. James R. Show officiating. Interment, Maple Summit Cemetery.
