HILAIRE, Cathy L. 10/20/07 Daily American Cathy L. St. Hilaire lost her Courageous battle with cancer on Oct. 18, 2007. Formerly from Meyersdale, she is survived by mother, Ann Weimer; sisters, Sue, Liz, Lisa, and Ali, and by brothers, Pete and Chris, and daughters Devon and Robyn. She received her Ph.D. from Milton Hershey Medical Center. She was a senior scientist with the Life Sciences Research Office in Bethesda, Md. There will be a funeral service at Leckemby Funeral Home in Meyersdale, at 11 a.m. Wednesday with visitation one hour prior, followed by burial in Berlin Cemetery. Weimer St. Hilaire, 58, lost her courageous battle with cancer on October 18, 2007. She was formerly from Meyersdale, daughter of Earl Wilson Weimer and Ann Elizabeth (Smith) Weimer. She is preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her mother, sisters, brothers, daughters, nieces, nephews and friends. Sisters and brothers: Susan (Weimer) and Guy McQuade, Clarion; Pete and Lisa (Williams) Weimer, Meyersdale; Elizabeth (Weimer) and George Kinney, Transfer; Chris and Carrie (Richards) Weimer, West Middlesex; Lisa M. Weimer, Pittsburgh; and Allison (Weimer) and Paul Arnold, Transfer. She is also survived by two daughters: Devon St. Hilaire, New York, NY and Robyn St. Hilaire, Hershey; and by eleven nieces and nephews: Casey McQuade, Jennifer (Weimer) Ray, Julia Weimer, Brian Kinney, Amanda Kinney, Mackenzie Weimer, Madison Weimer, Anna Weimer, Alex Bucher (Arnold), Garrett Arnold, and Katie Arnold. She also leaves behind many close friends including her dear friend, Paulita Vidot, Hershey, who put her life on hold and devotedly stayed by her side throughout her fight with cancer. She graduated from Meyersdale High School, received a B.S. in science education from West Virginia University, a Ph.D. in microbiology from Milton S. Hershey College of Medicine of the Pennsylvania State University and was a Post doctorate Fellow at the University of California at Berkley. She had 23 years of experience in the areas of environmental affairs, cancer research, toxicological evaluation, risk assessment and scientific policy. She has worked for the National Academy of Sciences, International Life Sciences Institute, Environ Corporation, Hershey Foods Corporation, and Life Sciences Research Office. She was a devout Christian and a member of the Harambee Church in Harrisburg. Pastor Brenda Alton of Harambee, a close friend of Cathy's, provided spiritual support to Cathy and her family throughout her fight with cancer and directed the memorial services held in Hershey on October 22, 2007 and in Meyersdale on October 24, 2007. Cathy was put to rest in the Berlin Cemetery on October 24, 2007. Cathy was an amazing individual who touched and changed many lives for the better with her overflowing love, compassion and generosity. She was a devoted friend, daughter, sister, aunt and mother and she is loved and missed immensely by her family and friends. The family would like to thank all of Cathy's friends and extended family for all their thoughts and prayers throughout Cathy's battle with cancer and in their time of grief.
