"Buddy" Stoddard, 64, of Somerset, died Nov. 14, 2001 at his residence. Born Nov. 11, 1937 in Blytheville, Ark., he was the son of John P. Sr. and Arneda (Mabry) Stoddard. He was preceded in death by his father, and a sister Ruth Wilson. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, the former Jean Hummel; a daughter, Laura, married to Brett Brant, Somerset; a son, David and Marlene Stoddard, Zelienople; his mother Arneda (Mabry), Rohnert Park, Calif.; grandchildren, Joel and Patience Stoddard; step-grandchildren, Brandon and Kendra Brant; sister, Mary Sarver, Berlin, and Linda, married to Walter Long, Rohnert Park, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a lab technician for Commonwealth Stone Co./New Enterprise Stone and Lime, Boswell Quarry. A graduate of the former Jenner-Boswell High School. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Berlin Brethren Church, where he served as Sunday School teacher, choir member and deacon; Masonic Lodge 358 F. & A.M., Somerset; Altoona Consistory; and VFW Post 554, Somerset. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, with Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. and from 10 a.m. Friday until time of service at 11 a.m. at the Berlin Brethren Church, with the Rev. Owen C. Preston officiating. Interment, Berlin IOOF Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to Berlin Brethren Church, 620 Main St., Berlin, Pa. 15530 or to In Touch Hospice, 1590 N.
