Stoner in 1939. She was born July 21, 1914, the daughter of Mark and Florence (Bills) Clogston. She was the second of three children. Her parents, brother Richard, and Mr. Stoner preceded her in death. She died Aug. 28, 2002. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Jean and James Cass of Lecanto, Fla., and her children, John and his wife Rosalie of Tucson, Ariz.; Peter and his wife Dale of Jackson, Miss.; Mary and her husband Blazo Sredanovic of Menlo Park, Calif.; and Ruth and her husband Thomas Jodon of Greensburg; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grand-children, and one great-great-grandchild. Mildred moved to California in 1970 and enjoyed the beauty of the trees and flowers that grew so profusely. Inspired by music, she played the piano from memory well into her 80's. Books of prose and poetry provided insights into the world that she shared with friends and family, and she was appreciated as a gracious and articulate conversationalist. Her interest in art brought Mildred much happiness the last years of life when her family produced coloring books with some of her flower drawings. She hoped the books would be enjoyed by children and adults alike and was thrilled to see them in print. Mildred had a gentle but independent spirit, an appreciation for beauty, and a love of life. We were fortunate to have known this dear, gallant lady, and she will be greatly missed. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service for Mildred Stoner on Saturday, Oct. 19, 11 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 525 Main St., Berlin. Rev. Mel Kirk Jr. will preside.
