Stoughton, 86, of Green Gables, Jennerstown, died June 15, 1973, in Somerset Community Hospital. Born Jan. 31, 1887, in Jenner Township, she was a daughter of Edward B. and Ida (Sipe) Maurer. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert A. Sr., in 1940; a son, James Black Stoughton, in 1972; also a sister and two brothers. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Louise Stoughton Maust; a son, Robert A. Jr., both of Jennerstown; also five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Helen S. Maurer, Somerset; Mrs. Lillian B. Buck, Washington, D.C.; and Mrs. Louella Shoff, Georgia; and a brother, B. J. Maurer Sr., Boswell. Mrs. Stoughton was active in the management of Green Gables, Jennerstown, from 1927 until 1960. She was a member of Mount Laurel United Church of Christ, of Johnstown Garden Club and a life-long member of Daughters of American Revolution. Funeral service was held Monday morning in Joseph H. Hoffman Funeral Home, Boswell, with Rev. Jeffrey Kistler officiating. Interment in Jenner Crossroads Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, June 21, 1973 [S3103]
