STOUGHTON James Black Stoughton, 61, Jennerstown, founder of Green Gables Restaurant and the Mountain Playhouse there, died June 30 at his home at Stoughton Lakes. Born in Addison, Sept. 12, 1910, he was a son of Robert A. and Edith (Maurer) Stoughton. Surviving are his mother; his wife, the former Teresa Mullane; two daughters, Teresa A. and Mary Louise, both at home; a sister, Mrs. Louis (Stoughton) Maust and a brother, Robert A. Stoughton, both of Jennerstown. He was preceded in death by his father in 1940. A member and past president of Somerset County Artists Association, he had been honored by that organization June 20 with a life membership. He was a veteran of World War II and received two Bronze Star Medals for service with a field artillery unit in the South Pacific. Mr. Stoughton attended Paul Sawyer School of Art in New York City and was a member of the charter class of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. He was a member of Mount Laurel United Church of Christ, Jenner Township. Funeral service was held Monday afternoon in Green Gables Tuscany Room with Rev. Jeffrey Kistler officiating.
