Stout, 83, Champion, died April 3, 2006, at Somerset Hospital. Born Feb. 23, 1923 in Champion, son of the late Samuel and Nora (Reese) Stout. In addition to his parents, Roy is preceded in death by wife, Mary Louise (Romesburg) Stout in 1994; granddaughter, Lisa VanDyke; sisters, Thelma Snyder and Betty J. Shawley; and brothers, James and Paul Stout. He is survived by his loving family, his children, Daniel T. Stout and wife, Dareen, Normalville; David P. Stout, Champion; Douglas W. Stout and wife, Michelle, Georgia; Darlene K. VanDyke and husband, James, and Diane M. Stouffer and husband, Richard, all of Champion; and Dorothy M. Kiefer and husband, Walter, McClellandtown; 14 grand-children; and two great-grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was a lifelong resident of Champion. He had worked as a timberman for most of his life for the Kinneer Lumber Co. and had also worked for Neiderhiser Excavating of Champion. He is a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theatre. He was a lifetime member of the Donegal VFW 6743. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., Route 711, Melcroft, where a funeral serve will be held 11 a.m. Thursday.
