Born June 10, 1920 in Somerset Township. Son of Wilson Robert and Daryle Elizabeth (Stahl) Stoy. Preceded in death by parents, wife the former Elizabeth A. Smith who died July 3, 1996 and brothers Robert L., C. Kenneth, and John C. Stoy Sr. Survived by brother Rufus M. Stoy and wife Sara of Homassa, Fla. and sisters-in-law, Thelma Stoy, and Verda Stoy, both of Somerset. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Graduate of Somerset High School. U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he served as Tech. Sgt. Life member and former chief of Somerset Volunteer Fire Department. Member of American Legion Post 181; Lodge 358 F. & A.M. Jaffa Shrine of Altoona; Somerset and Johnstown area Shrine clubs, the National Association Legion of Honor, the Hebron Royal Arch Chapter 272; Tall Cedars of Lebanon 77, and life member of FOE Aerie 1801. Employed as superintendent of public works for Somerset Borough, retiring in 1987. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Robert L. Hoover Jr., senior pastor officiating. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. and Firemens Service will be at 8:15 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment, Weller Cemetery.
