Stoy, 90, Beacon Hill, Lombard, Ill., formerly of the Cayman Islands and Chicago, died Feb. 11, 2007, at Beacon Hill Health Center. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Randall Stoy, and his brothers, Kenneth, Robert, John and Park, all of Pennsylvania. Mr. Stoy is survived by his wife, Sara; his sons, Rufus "Jay" M. Jr., Spooner, Wis.; David Wilson (Jean), Naples, Fla.; and Daniel W. (Effie Casler), Piscataway, N.J.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Margaret Stoy, Montgomery, Ill. Mr. Stoy was born in Somerset County, and is a 1934 graduate of Somerset High School. He moved to Chicago in 1947. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II, having served in the Atlantic. Mr. Stoy was a 32nd Degree Mason, life member of Decalouge Lodge 160, Chicago, and was past master. Employed as a construction engineer for Craftway Homes, building homes in Aurora and LaGrange, the company transferred him to the Cayman Islands. He also worked for Caribbean Utility Co., the power company of Cayman. He was active in Kiwanis Club in the Cayman Islands, and was a past lieutenant governor of the club. He also founded the Turks & Caicos Kiwanis Club. He built the Cayman Kai Resort in Cayman Islands, and was a former owner of the Sea View Hotel, the oldest hotel on Cayman. He was a member of the Cayman Islands Conservation Society, and the Divers Association, and was active in getting the first decompression chamber to the islands. In 2004, he and his wife moved to Lombard, and were happily married for 66 years. Visitation will be held 3 to 7 p.m. at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard, IL. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Brust Funeral Home. The Rev. Steven Hammer of Lombard Bible Church officiating. Interment will be at Mount Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst.
